just came back from the eminence symphonic orchestra concert held at victoria concert hall. terrible hosting aside, it is AMAZING. the concert had yasunori mitsuda as a guest artist. yasunori mitsuda is this really cool composer who composed songs like "radical dreamers" from chrono cross (which jeff has been learning how to play on guitar) and "dream of the shore bordering another world" amongst others. and of course these two songs were on the itinerary. other songs played included those by joe hisaishi (i.e. Princess Mononoke), a few classical pieces and even a hilarious symphonic rendition of super mario bros. unfortunately, any final fantasy songs supposedly on the list were cancelled , possibly due to them not getting permission from original composer on time. and the crowd... they were gaming music geeks, like me! when the name "nobuo uematsu" was mentioned, you can actually hear excited gasps from members in the audience. sigh, if only they could hold more concerts over here. i would fork out up to $200 for a concert that plays the following (sort of my dream concert), though i would expect the price probably will go up to much more since it features even more prominent composers, and of course more royalties will have to be given (some are being performed at tonights concert): 1) Metal Gear Solid 3 - Harry Gregson Williams 2) Overworld (Past) - Tales of Phantasia 3) Opening Theme - Baldur's Gate II 4) Dream of the Shore Bordering Another WOrld - Chrono Cross (by Yasunori Mitsuda) 5) Princess Mononoke - Joe Hisaishi 6) Euclid Theme - Tales of Phantasia 7) Legend of Ashitaka - Joe Hisaishi 8) Medley of Only the Beginning of An Adventure (followed by Evacuating LondoN) - Chronicles of Narnia (Harry Gregson Williams) 9) Final Fantasy III medley (MUST include terra, celes, rachel, coin song, edgar theme, and shadow) 10) Aquatic Ruin and Casino Night theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 11) Desolation - Tales of Phantasia 12) Find Your Way - Final Fantasy VIII 13) Freezekill - Tales of Phantasia 14) Tanner Shop - Baldur's Gate II 15) Morrowind Opening Theme 16) Leaving the Body - Yasunori Mitsuda 17) Radical Dreamers - Chrono Cross (Yasunori Mitsuda) 18) Panzer Dragoon Orta Theme 19) Suteki De Ni - Final Fantasy X2 (Nobuo Uematsu) 20) Mystic Forest - Final Fantasy III 21) Frog's Theme - Chrono Trigger 22) SOns of Liberty - Harry Gregson Williams Encore: 1) Heroes of Might and Magic III Opening Theme 2) B4U - DDR 4th Mix (MUST be 4F73R overclocked remix) oh man this will be the best concert EVER. and if i can have my way i'll get them to play Muse's "butterflies and hurricanes".. but then that will be totally out of the atmosphere. but still cool.. sorry...!!
